Concept

These umbrella designs produced in commemoration of the special exhibition The Return of the Oegyujanggak Uigwe from France: Records of the State Rites of the Joseon Dynasty held at the National Museum of Korea.

Features

The ribs are made from a high-strength material that includes nickel and other metals to make them lightweight yet durable and resistant to bending. The fabric is made of a super water-repellent material that rejects water rather than absorbing it. Moreover, there is an automatic open and close button. This three-fold umbrella is lightweight, durable, and convenient to carry.

Relic

This Uigwe documents the royal wedding in 1759 between King Yeongjo(1724-1776) and his second queen, Queen Jeongsun (1745-1805). Emphasizing the importance of  frugality, King Yeongjo sought to reduce the extravagance and adornment of  royal wedding ceremonies.
