Concept

It could be that celadon was compared to a precious green flower by people during the Goryeo Dynasty. The pride and love felt by people of the era for their beautiful celadon might have been beyond anything we could imagine. Celadon-inspired products have been developed in the hope that you, too, can enjoy Goryeo-era celadon - as green as jade and as radiant as crystal - in your daily life. It is hoped that the artistic creation that may have been cherished by the Goryeo people like green flowers will take on new and special meanings for us today.

The rich blue pigment used for adorning white porcelain has long been considered a noble hue and the pigment was historically difficult to obtain. In painting, the blue derived from lapis lazuli - a rare mineral more precious than gold - was traditionally reserved for only the most esteemed subjects. In the same spirit, this product was designed as a meaningful gift for someone truly special.

Features

This limited-edition product was created through collaboration between MU:DS, the merchandise brand of the national museums of Korea, and Mujagi, a ceramic brand by the artist Shim Bo-geun. It was inspired by the celadon of the Goryeo Dynasty, which provides some of the most iconic items in the collection of the National Museum of Korea.

This celadon dish set blends the refined aesthetics of Goryeo-era celadon with contemporary functionality. Modest in size, the flower-shaped dish is perfect for serving side dishes or for use as a personal plate, while the footed dish is ideal for snacks such as yogurt or ice cream. With their signature jade-green hues, these pieces add beauty and joy to any dining table. Savor the beauty of Goryeo celadon in daily life through these lifestyle items with jade-green hues and refined aesthetic expression.

Notes

Please note the inherent characteristics of handmade ceramics. The following features are natural outcomes of the process of crafting ceramics and should not be considered defects:

- Subtle glaze flow marks can occur during the glazing process due to the handcrafted nature of the piece
- Minor variations in color, gloss, and surface texture can result from the firing process
- The bottom surface where the piece was in direct contact with the kiln shelf is unglazed
- Small air bubbles in the clay are produced during the firing process
- Black spots can result from the naturally occurring iron content in the clay and glaze
- Slight slope differences due to hand-finishing
